We tried to arrange flowers that bloom in the wild (Summer).

"Kirinoha-kai'' is a small event to enjoy Japanese in a small Japanese-style room.
This time it's a event arranging flowers that bloom in the wild. Rather than using flowers that have been bred for gardening purposes, this is an association that uses the oldest method called "Nageire'' to grow native Japanese plants, plants that bloom everywhere in the mountains and fields.
I was impressed by the instructor's words, "The flowers bloom as if they were placed with the leaves facing up to receive the blessings of the sun,'' and "If you place the flowers the way you want them to, they will calm down.'' Some of the participants took home flowers and other words that were engraved in their hearts, such as, "It was refreshing to be able to walk as if I were feeling the wind.''

We held "Kirizaki Mai no Kai - Kirino hana Kai in Kyoto"

We held a dance event in Kyoto for the first time. We rented a Japanese-style room in a historic town hous, Machiya and enjoyed the dance "Horai" and a workshop.

I was convinced that that dim light in the room, with the soft light coming from the courtyard, made the white painted face look even more beautiful.

We held "Kirizaki Mai no Kai"

Despite the hot weather, we were able to hold a dance party with a full audience.
After holding a recital at the theater, I had a lot of things to think about.
I wanted to get a little closer to what Jiutamai is like, so I decided to hold it in a tatami room.

We sought a more natural form in a room with soft outside light so that you can enjoy the feeling of breathing, the sound of rustling clothes, the gaze, and the feel of Jiuta dance that has been passed down in such an intimate space. I did.
We tried to give the audience a taste of the salon-like atmosphere of the tatami room even during the dance breaks, but what do you think?
Thank you for the hot weather. Thank you very much to everyone who came.

A small event to enjoy Japanese tradition in a small Japanese-style room named "Kirinoha-kai".
We welcomed Mr. Hiroyuki Kimura, who also gave commentary on the NHK Sumo Broadcast (BS), and tried to learn the physical treatmets of sumo.
I was able to understand not only the feeling of passing through the core of the body, but also the significance of aligning the fingers and placing the big toe on the floor.
One person who had my floating toes pointed out during practice said, "It made me realize how important it is to pay attention to my toes.'' I think it would be useful for dancing.

Adapted by "Ale for Art" a project sponsored by tokyo Metropolitan Government.

In order to prevent the infection of the Covid-19. I challenged how far I could prepare by myself, no make-up artist, no dresser, no wig professionals, no lighting person no photographer, and no stage director.
Jiutamai was originally performed in tatami room without dressing up . The original appearance was with Japanese hair and with kimono long hem.
One of the purposes was how much we could feel it in this era. To have gained a lot of awareness was great harvest for me.

The more things we can do alone, the easier it will be to show off anywhere in the world, both physically and ecdonomically.
I would like to continue practicing these things so that I can share them not only with my students but also with many people.

A lecture on "Japanese movements based on dance" was held at Office sakai.
We held a course for aspiring models and actors who belong to Office Sakai.

Since this was a one-off lesson, we focused on how to walk without kicking, how to use the whole body from the center of the body, and how to use the knees so that the students could apply the lessons. I was surprised that many of them had experienced walking in two-toothed geta for the first time, but since they were young people aiming to become artists, they had excellent internal sensations. I felt hopeful that if these young people could find at least one Japanese practice that they like, they would be able to become more involved in their movements.
Thank you very much to everyone who participated.

Many of the people I met in Lithuania were modest and warm-hearted, and it gave me a somewhat nostalgic feeling.

In the special lecture at Mykolas Romeris University, he first gave a brief explanation of Jiuta dance, and used pictures to explain why it hardly moves. After dancing "Zangetsu,'' they explained that the dance was an offering to the gods, and then danced "Matsuzukushi.''
Afterwards, one man and two women wore yukata. When I asked him what he thought, he said, "I thought it would be painful, but (when I tried it on) it was comfortable and fit well.'' I was very happy.
During the hands-on experience, I was sometimes asked why I was doing this. Japanese people find it easier to understand when you use experience → reason, but Western Europeans seem to find it better to use reason → experience.
Also, I am reflecting on the fact that I may have felt a sense of "I'll teach you something.'' "The essence of Japanese culture is "breathing,'' and we start by "standing by the other person,'' rather than trying to form an agreement by trying to talk down to them,'' he says, only to realize that he himself is not doing that at all. I noticed. It's pathetic.
In the future, I believe that I will have to restructure the content and change my attitude so that I can demonstrate these points with my own body.

It is a research center for arts and culture throughout Lithuania, and its staff members are professionals in music, dance, theater, film, photography, textiles, dyeing, etc. We performed a performance for the employees. As expected, the audience was made up of experts in culture and the arts, and I could feel that they were watching with great interest.
After the dance, we received detailed questions such as "What is the purpose of bending the knees?'' and "What is the expression of putting one's hands in one's sleeves?''
I had a great sense of unity with the audience and a sense of distance, and it was very easy to dance.

The purpose was to compare the most advanced dance of Aura Dance Company, which is the most popular in Kaunas, with the old jiuta dance that originated in Japan's Edo period, and to gain a better understanding of both. .
Therefore, as a cushion between contemporary dance and jiuta dance, the shakuhachi performance is interposed, and from the ensemble with contemporary music to the classic "Tsuru no Nest Kagomori'', the atmosphere gradually shifts to Japanese classics, and jiuta dance is created. I think I was able to naturally find calmness.
The talk show featured Hisayuki Sakamizu as a storyteller who explained the comparison between Western dance and Jiuta dance as "motion and stillness,'' and talked about the characteristics of Japanese expression: By not expressing, we communicate more than expressing. I explained what to do. The interpreter, Maria Kishida, was at a loss because she touched on some content that was difficult to translate into a foreign language, but I think it was quite easy to understand, such as her conversation with her Japanese friend and examples of the tea ceremony.
After deepening her understanding through the talk show, she once again watched contemporary dance and jiuta dance. As expected, the atmosphere in the audience after the talk show was wonderful, and I was able to dance with a very good sense of tension.

The next day (November 4th) was Song Day (for us it was Dance Day), a joint concert between Lithuanian and Japanese choirs, and in the lobby there was a message saying, "I saw your Jiuta dance yesterday. It was wonderful.'' It was,” several people said to me. I was so proud and happy that they seemed to have become even more interested in Japan.

Since this was a charity event for children with cancer in Lithuania, we received a letter of appreciation from the mayor of Kaunas and the charity organization Rugutè. I am very grateful, but I am completely humbled by the efforts of Yoshiyuki Sakamizu, who actually planned, coordinated, and operated this event, as well as everyone in Japan and Lithuania.

Also, this time, when I stepped out of the hotel, I wore Japanese clothes. Of course, I was wearing Japanese clothes on the plane. It was a big experiment and challenge for me, who grew up wearing clothes.
It was definitely different from the reaction to kimono in Japan, so that was interesting and fun.

Before appreciating the next stage we explained Jiuta "Fumi-tsuki (July)". (30 minitues)

This time, we teached how to play the instrument "Sangen (shamisen)". And everyone tried to play it one after another (45 minutes)

【Mai Traial Class】
This is the last time, so we tried all theme since 2014. The attendants played actually a first part of "Gosho-no-oniwa (the garden of the imperial palace)" by using introduced all themes from 1st theme; Basic methods, good posture, good standing-up & sitting-down style, good walking tyle, good breath way etc,. 2nd theme; glance, 3rd them; direction change, 4th theme; Moving with Scapulas, 5th theme; how to move with your hole body and 6th theme, relax your muscles.

And the previous classes I received voices as "hips has become easier", "knee is no longer said jittery" or "I feel hot" etc.. Many attendants had experienced new feeling, to move with their hole body and excited very much.

The sectets of Mai is not transcendental skill. If you pay conscious to your body, you can do easily. But if you want to do it without consciousness, you mustpractice hard. I proceeded this class that the atten dants could feel how to use their body smoothly increasing their inner sensors talking with the body itself. It is very difficult to change the present body conditions and/or habits but I hope the attendants to care their body condition in their daily life. (45 minutes)
